The Journey of Magic

At the beginning, we open ourselves to child mind which restores to us the magic of life.

CARD DESCRIPTION: Below the blue air swirling, the gentle hands of one young in spirit, body, mind and psyche, conjures circles of light, creating emergent spaces in which anything desired might arise. All supported by Minor Arcana Suits and Elements. Above, a butterfly flickers between spacetime and the 8th dimension. A coin hangs suspended in a mirror. Green vines surround the magic space with the green life of Mama Gaia.

SITTING WITH THIS CARD: As you connect with Magic, what insights float up from your subconscious?

Sitting with this card, I see the coin hanging in a mirror. It reminds me to examine the effects material living has on me. The pixilating butterfly, signifies that I am a multi-dimensional being, existing here and, simultaneously in the divine, 8th dimension of infinity/eternity.

WHEN YOU FEEL OUT INTO THE WORLD: Do you see Magic differently? What insights does your inner wisdom provide?

When I imagine the card out into the world, it expresses magic by making all the elements for creating it available: the power of the suits – cup, sword, wand, pentacle – and the elements: air, water, fire and Mama Gaia (earth), as signified by the green foliage.

WHEN YOU DRAW THIS CARD: Might it invite you to explore and allow real magic into your life? What might be an "emergent space?"

When I draw this card, it helps me into the sweet spot where limitations melt away. Magic happens because I already have all the tools life endows me with. The "emergent space" opens when I let go of everything and trust the moment. Creative power is an example of what may emerge.

YOU CAN ALSO ASK: Do I believe in magic? What forms might it take?

When I ask myself if I believe in magic, the truth is that I don't always do. But seeing this card reminds me to let go of hesitation and doubt and remember that I'm connected to a reality greater than society thinks. It is limited only by my ability to imagine it.

The form it might take: My eyes sharpen – I can peer into possibility. My mind becomes emboldened – I move from believing/not believing into creating.

I long ago learned about being mindful of giving my power away. Now I'm learning not to give my magic away, either.

What might the Torchlight symbol mean to you?

To me, Torchlight is about calling forth and embracing guidance whether from inner wisdom, the divine, intuition, visions, the clairs, teachers, guides, signs, or ideas, and more.

There is something about Torchlight that is moving; it's human-made and intimate. The torch is close to the body, even with outstretched arm. We make it, we light it, we hold it. We thrust it into the unknown before us. We are guided by our curiosity and passion for what lies beyond the circle of its light.
