Why The Mystic's Tarot & Oracle Cards?
Two reasons. One, the Tarot works in ways that many of us, either understand, or intuit, however there are no scientific explanations. Two, I am a mystic. I have direct experiences of the divine, in various ways and my life and work are shaped and guided by this connection. The Tarot is a wonderful system that I felt called to expand upon within my deck to include the wisdom the divine channels to me.

Is the Tarot safe?
In film and novels, the Tarot is depicted as theatrical and ludicrous or as occult and scary or threatening. But it is actually a brilliant tool. And, as with all tools, it matters who is using it. My first priority is to respect who you are, honor your boundaries and be in service to your highest good.

Do I have to be spiritual to have a good Tarot reading?
Not at all. The Tarot is helpful as long as you're open-hearted. That said, the Tarot also gives you access to divine guidance if that is your inclination; I adore this part of it as I have a deep connection with the divine. Yet, for you, as the client, no particular spiritual beliefs are required for the session to be a success! To learn more, check out the interview below.
About my teacher
I was taught by the magnificent Gaia Hawkin whose lineage of Tarot readers reaches back eight generations. For many years before the Tarot came in, I was a certified life coach, personal development teacher, peer counselor, and Reiki master. The Tarot took me by surprise in the form of my teacher who appeared at the perfect time. I owe her a debt of gratitude and want to acknowledge her excellent and undogmatic teaching that allowed me to find in the Tarot an intimate and brilliant medium for divine guidance.
Interview with Henry
How did you get into Tarot?
Henry: Until I met my teacher, I didn't think much of the Tarot because, though I'm deeply spiritual I'm also quite skeptical. Hearing her take on it won me over. She said the magic isn't in the cards but in us. That rang true. Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung talk about how through stories and symbolism, we express the knowing of the individual and collective unconscious. As she taught me, I discovered that the Tarot cards can be an instrument through which the divine can easily speak. So rich in symbols and stories, it became a reliable instrument for facilitating divine guidance. It's a deep and humbling privilege to facilitate that for my clients.
How do you understand the Tarot?
Henry: Through the Tarot, the divine within me can connect with the divine within you, allowing us to deep-dive into the heart of the matter, whatever it may be: life path, purpose, love. family relationships, even work. We get to the core of what the reading is meant to be about and find authentic answers.
I also deeply respect people's beliefs and trust and have confidence in them. Everyone's outlook and need's are unique and deserve to be honored. When I do a reading I convey it in the language that is respectful of their beliefs.

You speak of "divine reality" in connection with the Tarot. How did you come to that idea?
Henry: In the 1980’s, I had a mystical direct-experience of the nature of ultimate reality. I found myself as a point of consciousness in an infinite illuminated darkness; that's the only way I can describe it. There was no actual physical space, only an endless oceanic state of love much like the "oceanic feeling" that Romain Rolland coined in a letter to Sigmund Freud to describe oneness with the universe. I understood that I had been transported outside the familiar reality we share--like you and I are doing now in this conversation--into meta or divine reality. This oneness, completeness, goodness, I understood as the true nature of reality. There's more to it, of course [laughs]. We could fill a book right now if we had the time.
Why do you think that is important?
Henry: The Tarot is an exquisite tool to tap into higher reality and connect us with what we authentically desire and how to create a life that fulfills those desires. Of course, my skills as a life coach, peer counselor and Reiki master come into play as well.
