Why is Ecotherapy For?

Ecotherapy is for your healing. But it is also for the earth because the two are like the front and back of a hand--more than connected, more than entwined, but inseparable. It's this inseparableness that causes our grief, our pain. Because most of us are more than simply afraid. Our hearts hurts for the the species that go extinct, for the ways in which certain humans in certain industries are cruel to animals, to nature. 
Ecotherapy was born to address this very modern problem.

What are the Different Kinds of Ecotherapy?

My style of ecotherapy includes the standard approach of drawing from nature for our healing, but it does more: it acknowledges your state of interbeing with the web of life, as well as the subsequent suffering you experience because the earth suffers at human hand.
In session, you will have the opportunity to express your hurt, your fear, your anger which is an utterly sane response. We'll work through any shame, frustration and sense of helplessness in the areas where you feel you are complicity in the harm done to Mother Earth (most of us have to drive a car, use energy for heating and cooling our homes, etc.) It's virtually impossible to walk upon this earth in this century without contributing the the problem.
But you don't have to be helpless.

 Eco Action

My Ecotherapy also includes coming up with a plan for how you can help heal the Earth in ways that work for you.
That's one of the most important things I learned ecopsychology pioneer, Andy Fisher: The actions you take have to intersect with what you are passionate about, with what you connect with in your heart. In our session, you will have the opportunity to explore and make a plan of action that supports your hope for the future.

 Eco-Spirituality

Eco-Spirituality, similar to panpsychism says that not only are we a part of nature but also that nature, including us, is sacred. It says that our experiences in the more-than-human world, such as going on a hike or sailing on the ocean are so special because it is there that we more easily connect with the Divine. In an ecotherapy session, you can explore this part of your own life experience and find ways to allow it to be infused into your daily life.
