4 - Governance
The Journey of GovernanceThe journey now moves into the action phase indicated by the previous cards. CARD DESCRIPTION: A blue-dressed person stretches out their arm and gazes toward, perhaps a crowd unseen by us. To their left float delicate roses, and a winking coin beneath a Reiki power symbol. Time hangs from waning and waxing crescent moons. In the foreground, Mama Gaia’s green leaves grow into the scene to remind us of our body’s green origins. |
SITTING WITH THIS CARD: As you feel into Governance, what does is provoke in you?
|
Sitting with Governance, this card can make me uncomfortable because of the human world's often problematic use of power. I have to make an effort to have an original response, away from cultural conditioning. But the flowers and foliage are comforting reminders that I may be captivated by the human dramedy, but I am of spirit and earth. This has so much meaning to me because I trust Mama Gaia. Governance originates from ancient Greek, kubernáo, meaning to steer or pilot. |
WHEN YOU FEEL OUT INTO THE WORLD: Does Governance take on a different meaning?
|
When I feel out into the world, Governance is a specific version of power that, to me, speaks of responsiveness, cooperation, and accountability, away from "power-over." |
WHEN YOU DRAW THIS CARD: Might it invite you examine your relationship with power?
|
When I draw this card, the Reiki power symbol over a gold coin points out that power isn't control. It is chi, (life force). And it is influenced by changing times and cycles similar to the phases of the moon. |
YOU CAN ALSO ASK: What does the idea of claiming my power, the resources that belong to me, and the authority to use those resources mean to me?
|
I ask of myself to claim ownership: The human world may want to tell me how to write my life and try to edit it, but I'm the author of my journey. The stories I tell myself and others about my journey should by mine. |
Ouroboros Family
To me, the Ouroboros symbol seems mysterious. It tastes of chaos. Like a sword that cuts both ways, it is neither good, nor bad, is dangerous, yet eye-opening. All its characteristics are vital parts of life and are part of the mystery of what often is called "good and evil." The Ouroboros challenges me not to seek an answer but to keep holding space for the cognitive dissonance without trying to resolve it.
